on A Worthwhile Cause at 05:44 10/23/2008I've worked with CASA before (I'm a foster care caseworker). Some are decent and good and actually listen to ALL of the facts of the case. Some already have preconceived notions as to what should happen before actually getting to know everything. In fact, Family Court judges in our county have ruled that CASA are not entitled to have full access to our records but can be in court and have access to the foster children and birth families in person, as they have misinterpreted and read (wrongly) intonotes that have been written about the case. I do support CASA and believe they can positively contribute to cases, however I do believe that more training and a more well rounded view of the situation and not just the child's word (and the parent's) would make a great difference. Maybe the donations can help this.
