Perhaps she requested it herself. I dunno, but after living in India for three years, I was pretty surprised to learn that Indians themselves discriminate each other on the basis of their color. That's why you find VERY few dark-skinned Indian movie stars. Somehow, I find it very hard to believe it's all Vanity Fair. Management, perhaps? Showing her with lighter skin would definitely make her more beautiful -in most Indian eyes...
