Word of mouth is legitimate - targeted swarming of sites to give false impressions designed to sway the opinions of distributors based on insider info? Not so legitimate

as a reply on the comment by GimmeGraveRobber[/re] Read my post, then respond, there's a good girl. If it helps, start with the words "Outside a small.." --- [re=2942872]Re: Little Lotte
I'm not saying that you know the same amount about Repo! as some of the others here - I'm saying that faulting them specifically for judging it based on a sample when you have no idea how much they've seen (sure, it's *likely* they only know it from that clip, but you can't be sure, can you?) is hypocritical. -- and what have I done to stump your promotion of Repo? All I've done is tell people the truth - Repo looks like it'll be great but the comments here are all biased, one way or the other, and do not make for a good basis to judge popularity from. If people knowing the truth sabotages your methods of promotion then perhaps you should use more legitimate methods...
Doesn't anyone else think it's rather hypocritical to tell people not to judge a film based on a small sample when all ANYONE outside a very small group of people has had is a small sample? The soundtrack only has roughly half the songs in the finished film and the released video clips - while impressive - are minimal, so while your small sample may be large compared to someone else's small sample, it's still small compared to the overall film. --- If you can choose to love a film based on that small sample, who are you to judge people for hating it based on a small sample?
I didn't actually say I knew the reason for the deletion (I said "Almost as if") - but manipulation WAS the correct term. Actively telling people to post here to counter the negative comments because LGF staff ahave been told to view them IS manipulation, regardless of whether that manipulation had good intent or not.
Anyway, the thread's been deleted now, and replaced with one far more neutral in tone, all the better to cover Darren's ass, I suppose (and in case anyone's wondering, I DO like Repo! and I would LOVE to see it on a wider release, but I'd rather it earned that release honestly, rather than through manipulation, subterfuge and underhand tactics)
Kind of funny how the thread for this little operation disappeared from the Repo! forum just after I mentioned it. Almost as if Darren's ashamed of trying to manipulate the people responsible for distributing his film...
