Are you kidding me????????? Stephen Sondheim is only one of the most revered composers in America and to be involved in a prestigious project like"Sondheim On Sondheim" is hardly the sign of a dead career! Vanessa Williams is a multi-talented performer who has lasted 25 years in the business and will easily be around for another 25.
Unfortunately damage which is the result of years of smoking crack may be irreversible. Any smoke which is inhaled flows directly over the vocal cords (or folds as they properly known) as it passes into the lungs. I am guessing the temp from crack is pretty hot and it is bound to cause damage such as a thickening of the folds due to inflammation. Exercising the voice may help but if the delicate tissue itself is damaged, it is unlikely that it will recover. Whitney has previously suffered from vocal nodules during her "Bodygurd" tour and they have likely returned. From what I have heard of her so far, the damage sounds permanent. FYI vocal cords are mucus membranes rather than muscles.
It was Canada and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games that deserve all the credit!
Go Canada Go!!!!!!!!
Patrick was a class act all the way and a truly decent person.
