For all of those that says the teacher should have taken the phone: How do you suppose he/she should have done that. If the kid won't stop texting you can best believe that she won't voluntarily GIVE the phone away. If the teacher had tried to take it we'd most likely be reading another story about some teacher getting arrested for getting into a fight with some little girl.

The girl chose to make it a standoff and the teacher/school chose to not bend. Next time anyone in that school tells a kid to stop texting in class perhaps the kid will take it a bit more seriously. Kudos to teacher for not backing down, but rather taking it as far as the kid was willing to go imo.

The Hoff rocks. You have to love his complete lack of trying to be something he's not (well... he's not 30 anymore, or 20 for that matter), no pretense about that guy.
