Sean Bell was at a strip club being investigated by the police department for drug sales and prostitution. On the night of the shooting he got into an altercation with another individual and someone in his group said "lets go get my gun". The undercover officers followed Sean Bell and his "entourage" to their vehicle and ID'd themselves when Sean Bell put the car in drive and ran over one of the officers. Several shots were fired at the vehicle to prevent the vehicle and its drivers from causing further injury to the officer. Is it unfortunate, Yes but the entire situation could have been avoided had they simply put the car in park. All 3 "victims" have prior arrest records which include Gun possession, Drug Sales and Robbery.
