Columbus Day is about the equivalent to having a Hitler Day. Columbus was a horrible man responsible for the deaths of millions of people. I'd like to start a petition to have this day removed as a holiday. FUCK COLUMBUS!
Darling, I never made any such ignorant comments about you all requiring to know our history. I was just telling the history of blackface to explain to those unaware of it's history to explain why so many people found it offensive.
And like I said previously, it's obvious that the person who came up with the skit had to have an understanding of what blackface really is. Maybe the Aussie audience didn't, but the person or people originating it did.
I actually know quite a bit of Australian history. . . And why be so blatantly rude as to say American history is stupid? Our history is what it is, some bad, some good. Same as yours. . . America lives in the past? I think respecting our past is very important. We shouldn't forget that racism is a big part of our history. After all, it was not much over 50 years ago that black people had to use separate restrooms than whites. . . I completely understand that not all Aussies know much about American history. However, I do think that it's obvious that the person who came up with the skit probably did know something about it, otherwise they would have painted their faces in a more natural shade instead of a jet black blackface.
And not to offend you guys in Australia, but why do some of you think you're funnier than us? I personally say out of all the English speaking nations, the British are the funniest. A lot of American humor is quite unintelligent, but then again we also have some of the funniest people in the world from here. I went to wiki's listing of Aussie comedians and the only one I recognized was Paul Hogan. That right there is funny in itself. So maybe some of you think your people are so hilarious, but since you really don't have any world famous funny people, how can you talk?
And again (I posted a reply earlier regarding this), Robert Downey Jr. NEVER played anyone in blackface. His makeup was brown. It's actually a big difference. He was a white person playing a black person. Blackface is completely different. Hopefully you all understand that now.
