They didn't even mention any attempt at counseling or reconciliation. The interviewer didn't even ask about trying therapy. And also, what happened to their relationship with God and their church? Turning away from their beliefs was, in my opinion, one of the key factors in their downfall.

Get your facts straight, friend. In the Catholic Church (That is, the Roman Catholic Church, of which it is questionable that this person is actually a priest), a priest must remain celibate for his entire life. He may not marry and certainly may not father children. Perhaps you are thinking of Episcopalians, who have many of the same beliefs as Catholics but different rules.

That's just mean. Would it really be too much effort for her to just take the rose, smile, and say "thank you"? She wouldn't even have to stop walking, but she WOULD make that kid's day and look like significantly less of a bitch.
