I'm not sure what you were hoping to accomplish by alienating Miss California. You gave the far right a brand new reason to fight back against gay marriage, just as they were beginning to face the inevitable. McCain's campaign manager just days before came out and said the GOP would have to accept gay marriage... what you did was counterproductive to the cause, Perez. Yeah, yeah, it got you some media coverage, which I'm sure was the real reason you asked the question, but you really have set the gay movement back a few years. Way to go, Perez!
