This is the most reasoned and cogent response as to why many people don't agree with this issue. I saw the green line go up on CNN when the candidates said they were against gay marriage. The majority doesn't want it. And majority rules. I was even surprised at how many people voted against it (and for me). I would like to thank those who voted for euality. It is young people who are pushing this issue, not just gays. That's because a generation has come out and all of a sudden people have had "examples." "Uncle Ted is gay you know." "Yeah, I know. Big deal." People got to make up their own minds in a more open atmosphere. And young people, those who elected Obama and are now hurt by the Prop 8 fiasco, are the reason this topic keeps reappearing. A friend of mine said: "My parents are so fucked up. They've each been married like 10 times and they both voted Yes on Prop 8.
If you choose your sexuality, one of the strongest drives in mankind's palette of impulses, then straight people need to ask themselves when they chose to be straight. They grew up in the same families and had the same parents. If becoming a member of the most despised minority on the face of the earth is not a choice, then homos are born that way. If they are born that way then discrimination is immoral, just as it is for any other minority. People say homos should settle for Civil Unions, but that leaves out a whole lot of rights and it's state by state, instead of marriage with is recognized everywhere. Ironically, gay momentum is often subverted by vehement homophobes who turn out to be closeted gays themselves, like Larry Craig. And to those 7 out of 10 African Americans voting for Prop 8 in CA, thanks for nothing!
Yeah, besides Julia being one of the funniest women in TV, she's set to inherit ONE BILLION DOLLARS. But check Julia out. Check out the accessories. No major bling. Subtle elegance. She's the Anti-Paris. She made it on her own, she's been married to the same guy forever, she's got a hit TV show, and she did it all without one leaked porn video.
