on The Church Of Scientology Speaks at 13:29 01/07/2009Autism is not a mental illness, it's a neurological condition which also may predispose them to seizures etal. A psychiatrist's only involvement with someone afflicted with Autism is their ability to prescribe psychotropic medication and their wealth of knowledge in that area. I am hoping a pediatric neurologist had some involvement in his care as my own son does, who is Autistic. Unfortunately, Scientology is under the misconception that Autism is a mental illness/disorder instead of it's true designation as a neurological disorder. This is why all the attention to this story and tragedy. If something isn't even recognized, light never shed on the actual underlying condition, there isn't any way to receive the proper treatment that may have helped avoid such a horrific tragedy such as a death of a child. We do need to be concerned and not hide our heads in the sand. A child's welfare is everyone's business, or it should be.

on Even Medication Didn't Help Jett In The End at 15:24 01/05/2009If Jett had a history os seizures, why didn't he wear a helmet? Why was he allowed to enter a room predominantly filled with hard surfaces (porcelain, marble, slate, metal fixtures etal) all alone? He was given no seizure medication and left alone to enter a bathroom. My son is autistic and has a helmet to protect his head. Scientology doesn't recognize Autism and John refused to acknowledge it else his son be labeled as a 'degraded Being'. Jett lived in the lap of luxury, but he didn't need luxury, he needed treatment.
