Column McCann is a great author. He came to our high school about 12 years ago to talk about his recent book. Nice guy, great writer. Excited that it's a free download...I don't care about Oprah exactly, but I think it's great she's trying to get more publicity for McCann! WOO!
Last week I was listening to an interview with William Ford III (I think it was III) and he was talking about the first meeting that happened recently. When Congress asked his CEO, Alan Mulally if he would consider a paycut from his $25M salary, Alan's response was "I think I'm fine where I am". Ford (the company and the man) were not pleased with his answer. Ford actually said they have a good "cushion" right now, and were actually going to Congress to ask for a line of credit _should_ they require it in the near future. They aren't looking for a bailout right now.....but if in the future, until the economy stablilizes, if they need assistance, they want to know they have the support of Congress.
Ford III also said that each of the big three had their own issues or stories to present to Congress, but Congress was looping all three into one big pot which, Ford said, wasn't fair to the Ford Motor Company. But now Mulally said he'd take a $1/year salary if need be........
Thank you for posting this. I only watched about 5 minutes of Romney's speech, then became frustrated and changed the channel to something a little less political (America's Got talent, LOL). Anyway, the quote from Romney mentioned in this post caught my attention too. Thank you to AP for fact checking. It seems the Republican's have forgotten the last 8 years except for this stupid war. And btw, the video blog you did was great. Keep posting political entries because it is important to keep people informed. You're doing a great job!
Trust me, I already did. Once again, perfect example of Philly attitude. I have a lot of friends still in the city. Not every one is a bad person, but there are a few who make it bad for everyone. And what kills me is that Philly is trying to get a better reputation, but the city as a whole tends to piss in its own bed (and at the El stations, need I mention the underground station for the broad street line and El at city hall) time and time again. Not every city is perfect, I know that. Philly has great history and some awesome restaurants and shops. I love South Street, Olde City, and even the Art Museum area. But Philly needs a lot of improvement. I don't know how Michael Nutter has been doing for the city of Philly, but Street was a mess, his brother even worse. I got out of Philly 9 months ago and enjoy the serenity of New England now. Bellezza, you can have Philly. Please, in fact I'll give wrap it, and hope that no one pisses on it before I can hand it to you.
I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this, but this really surprises me. I lived in Philly for 8 years and found it to be one of the cruelest and rudest cities ever! There isn't much "love" in that city unless you're from there. Philly people use the excuse of the "Philly attitude" allowing them to think it's "OK" to treat people like dirt. Granted, I dined in Philly often and did tip well, but I still would not suggest moving to Philadelphia even if you are a waiter/waitress. Stick to NYC or something.
