I'm all for gay rights, but seriously.....where is all the celebrity help for Hurricane Ike relief?? There are several town where 80-90% of the structures were wiped out, people can't even get ice and water b/c the food banks are severely overwhelmed, even evacuees are having trouble getting assistance from effin FEMA!!! Especially the celebrities that are native Texans like Lance Armstrong, Beyonce (who's from Houston!), Matthew Mc-whatever, Jessica Simpson, Sandra Bullock (not native, but has a residence in Austin), Dixie Chicks, etc, etc. Where's the effin support from the nation? And yes I've donated both my money to the food banks and my time at the evacuation centers and its very devastating and humbling.
Because there's a hurricane season...its not like all year long we have to worry about hurricanes. Galveston is a great place to live. Living anywhere along the coast is very peaceful, laid back, just a different kind of life from big city living or even country living. Its where people consider home. Every city in every state faces potential for natural disaster. Its not that the people are on hear crying "whoa is me"...they are simply saying, if you've never been there then don't be so quick to try and understand or pass judgement.
Hey Dave, I now live in Austin, work for the police department and have had to deal with the shelters. Do you know how miserable these people are??? Do you have any idea how stressful it is to be 4 hours away from your home and everything you've worked so hard for and not knowing what the hell is going on with your home. If its flooded, burned to the ground, swept away and now 3 blocks down the street, being burglarized by low life looters???? Many of the friends I made in Galveston are members of the USCG and trust me, they strive on helping people and making these rescues. Thats what they signed up for. The police and firefighters aren't selfish and sit there going "God, these people were told to evacuate and now we have to work. What bullshit! They should pay me for doing my job!" Thats why these people do what they do on a daily basis and are often referred to as heroes...b/c they don't sit there behind there computer in their hurricane damage free house with their electricity and running water and air conditioning and bitch all day like the rest of you morons who have no clue and think Adrienne Curry is a new fountain of knowledge.
