I live in Texas, and people like this are an embarrassment to the rest of us! Luckily, they are becoming fewer and farther between..... :) One day, we might just elect a moderate politician (other than Austinites, who are majority Democrat).
Oh, and for those of you questioning Obama's courage to stand up to people who oppose him? Think about this: He is the first African American to ever run for the presidency of the United States, which has plenty of people who won't vote for him because of the color of his skin. He has more security surrounding him at all times than any other presidential candidate in history, because of the ridiculous amount of death threats he has received. Now, why do you think he is he not courageous and determined enough?
l live in the only Democratic county in Texas (Travis county, which includes Austin), but even so, I hardly EVER see people wearing Obama t-shirts. I work with TONS of strangers every day in retail, and for every 90 McCain/Palin (or even just plain PALIN) t-shirts I see, there seems to be only 1 person wearing an Obama shirt. Texas is full of lots of old people who grew up in small towns and don't know anything about how the world works. I'm actually surprised that the percentage of people who think Obama is Muslim isn't higher. It's all about fear, though - all these small town people don't like change.... in any way, shape, or form. That is why they cling to the Republican party.
