Both of my parents work for AT&T and they are actually really good to their employees. They don't "cut" jobs, what they do is offer a deal to get people to retire. You have to have 55 years (age + years of service) to retire, and they will offer like an extra 2 years. Then everyone who is eligible can retire (and they have a really good retirement plan). They keep doing this until they've reached the 12,000 mark....so no one is actually getting "fired"
(1) no person who voted for Obama is delusional enough to actually think the day after he won the country would do a 180 and everything would be rainbows and butterflies. Especially considering BUSH is still president, and Obama can't do anything to even try and help the economy until Jan. 20th. (2) the fact that senators wouldn't ALLOW Palin to have more power is not the point...the point is SHE thinks she would have had more. I find it hilarious that your rationalization for Palin being a good VP is that other people (democrates) would've reined her in. You're making my point for me. No one would have to rein in Biden because he knows the VP is powerless...which is why him being VP had no bearing on people's vote.
- the reason Palin as VP turned people off even though the job doesn't require much is becuase she said, and I quote "I'm thankful that the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chose to exert it in working with the Senate." THAT'S why a lot of people didn't want her as VP, because she probably would've tried to create more power for the VP then Cheney did. You're right, you shouldn't base your vote for president off the VP pick...unless the VP thinks she's entitled to more than she is.
First off, I think this is wonderful news. It really makes me think that this is the reason Obama didn't pick her as VP. Afterall, even Biden said the VP doesn't do much. The SOS job has a lot more responsiblity.
Second, Obama ran his campaign on "CHANGE", from the last 8 years...as in different from BUSH. Just because Hillary has been in politics for a while doesn't mean she isn't a CHANGE from BUSH.
Third, the only way to satisfy the CHANGE all of you people keep talking about is to have the entire government run by people who have never been in politics before and don't know what they're doing. Hillary knows what she's doing and is a welcome change from the last eight years.
