On the bus, the topic turned to social issues. Katie asked me if I thought it was possible to "pray away gay" - to convert homosexuals to heterosexuality through prayer. Hmmm, I thought. Odd question. I don't think she really wanted to hear my answer because she interrupted me five times as I tried to give it. The badgering had begun. This is really annoying me, I thought. The she asked me about abortion and the morning-after pill twelve times. Twelve different times. I answered as graciously and as patiently as I could. Each time, I reiterated my pro-life, pro-woman, pro-adoption position. But no matter how many ways I tried to say it, Katie responded by asking her question again in a slightly different way. I began to feel like I was in the movie Groundhog Day. (p. 277).
I'm not defending Palin. I said before, I don't think she's that bright. However, I despise Katie Couric and I think its obvious she was trying to set Palin up.
Ummmmm, did you watch the interview today? Palin specifically said that Couric asked her 12 times about her stance on abortion. That was a direct quote from her Oprah interview that aired today.
Right...Couric asked her 12 different times about her stance on abortion, was clearly using an offensive interview approach, and then edited together snippets of an admittingly not good interview to put together her anti-Sarah video package.
I do not think Palin was the most qualified, and she is definitely not as smart as other politicians, but all I'm saying is the treatment of both Palin and Hilary by everyone in the media, Katie included, was appalling.
And Perez, you constantly preach about gay marriage and equality, yet you have never once discussed how unfairly both Palin and Hilary Clinton were treated during the campaign. It was appaling, and while everyone was happy that America elected a black guy, no one wanted to recognize how shitty the media went after the two women running--the "classic stupid female" and the "power hungry, pantsuit wearing witch." You are such a hypocrite, wake up, there are more issues out there than gay marriage!
She may not be the brightest female politician, but there is no way anyone could have watched that interview and NOT thought Katie Couric was trying to cast Palin in a bad light.
