Marriage is NOT a uniquely Judeo-Christian concept. Marriage existed long before Jesus arrived on the scene, and it will continue to exist well after the next savior/prophet/magician who comes along. To suggest that Christianity gets to dictate what marriage is is ignorant and insulting to those of us who have a world outside of religious dogma.

I keep hearing people talking about "what this country was founded on" in terms of good ol' Christian values. Um. This country was also founded on tobacco, slavery, and the concept that the only members of society considered "people" were white, male property owners. Anybody want to protect that? Anybody?

There is a BIG difference between human canine teeth and predatory canine teeth: ours cannot tear through uncooked flesh. Our teeth and digestive system indicate that we are supposed to be subsisting mainly on plants, not meat. Humans didn't climb to the top of the food chain because of ingenuity, we circumvented it. The more technology we have, the more removed from the natural animal kingdom we become. A toaster does not mean we are at the top. It means we found a loophole. I suggest anyone who feels otherwise squares off against a wolf in its habitat with nothing more than their canines and writes home about the outcome.

Humans aren't "carnivores." Carnivores ONLY eat meat. Do you ONLY eat meat, redsonja? And it's the canines, not the incisors, that supposedly make us meat-eaters. Of course vegans are going to look sick if they're stupid, the same way omnivorous people do if they're eating nothing but crap. Veganism isn't and shouldn't be a "diet." It's a lifestyle. And, as a vegan, I look a hell of a lot better than most people I know. Didn't anyone stop to think that MAYBE P-nasty deliberately posted an unfortunate picture to accompany the bit? Besides, it's not as if she was drop-dead gorgeous to begin with.
