I don't think she was joking, I think she was being inappropriately serious. People have different ways of dealing with the horrible things that have happened to them. I guess her way is to laugh it off like it's no big deal. Also, rape is viewed different in different parts of the world from culture to culture. I think she was trying to make everyone aware that she wasn't sexually promiscuous at age 13. She just did it in an awkward manner.
