on He's No Tom Brokaw! at 21:58 10/10/2008Living on the mainland, we're much more focused on the presidential election. And unfortunately, for those of us away from home, we are unable to vote in both elections. I heard from so many of my friends back home what a joke this debate was. It is ridiculous that they'd have any one of those moderators present, and it was definitely not the right way to gain the young vote. Daddy Yankee, or any other reggaetón "singer" for that matter, are probably the least politically learned. Daddy Yankee, for one, is not even really puertorican (he's nuyorican, and that's NOT the same thing - grow up on the island, and EARN your right to call yourself boricua, bitches!). Furthermore, I agree that his sponsorship of McCain is both disgusting and stupid. Immigration doesn't affect us directly, as we are US citizens by birth, but we feel for the rest of the Spanish-speaking countries and feel they deserve as fair a treatment as possible. I feel like the whole campaign has been a joke, just like the current governor, and Puerto Rico (like the US) needs a big change. Every time I go back I see how it degrades further and further. If we want our beautiful island to shine again, as it always did, we need to get all of these idiots out of politics and put our trust in someone who can truly bring about change.
