I don't care one way or the other about her, but maybe she is not going so the spotlight can be on the Special Olympians, not a catfight between herself and the new Miss California. What she is doing seems to be the right thing to do since she isn't acting as a coach for one of the kids...she was to be there as a "forced" participant.
If it is another boy I wonder if he will go for Benjamin, Helaman, or Alma...or a girl if will end with a lyn...Jennilyn, Emmalyn. Such good Mormon names!
No, unless an immediate family member has given permission or the one performing the ordinance, you are not to baptize a person until, I believe, they are 100 years dead. Obviously, this should not have been performed.
It really isn't that big of a deal. Baptizing a Catholic person, doesn't mean they are Mormon in the afterlife, or a Mormon by proxy. They have the choice, at that point, to either accept the work done on their behalf or not in he afterlife. Of course, if you do not believe in life after death it is a moot point and completely harmless.
LDS don't count posthumous proxy baptisms in its membership counts. The Church is growing quickly due to its family centered beliefs.
