Through his philanthropy now, I believe Bill Gates is attempting to atone for all of the evil he has done to the world. I DON'T mean here that Windows is bad/evil/whatever. I am referring to Bill Gates himself. He has always been completely ruthless in his business dealing, taking great pleasure in having "infinite greed" and putting competitors out of business. He has purposefully stifled software innovation with his "embrace, extend,extinguish" philosophy. He has blackmailed all of the PC makers into charging their customers for Windows whether or not Windows is actually installed (e.g. if someone buys a PC with Linux). Bill Gates is a perfect example of the parable that it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven, but he's still trying his damnest to see if he can buy his way in after all.

Perez, have you ever even seen "Cats"? Grizabella, the character singing the song, is frail and neglected and weak. She is begging for a chance to be taken from her misery by being the Jellicle cat chosen to ascend to the Heaviside layer. The canonical interpretation of "Memories" was performed by Betty Buckley (yes, THAT Betty Buckley, of "Eight is Enough"). If you had ever listened to Betty sing "Memories", you would know Susan's interpretation was dead on. If you have any critique, it's in the song Susan chose to perform, not the way she performed it. She was brilliant!

I think Amy Winehouse has the better voice of the two, but she's become so unpredictable and unreliable, I sincerely doubt any studio would choose her. Amy could use the boost to her career, and I hope she can get it together enough to record the 007 theme, but it seems unlikely. It's so sad, Amy has great vocal talent but can't overcome her demons enough to really use it :-( In response to doododo, if Amy were somewhat fucked up but able to perform, that could be endearing, but she's SO fucked up she can't get through a single show these days :-(

Beyonce confuses me. I always felt like you did, that she had an OK voice but nothing special. But then I saw the movie "Dreamgirls", and when Beyonce sang the song "Listen", I discovered that she has a great voice and can REALLY sing. I don't know if it's the material she does or how she does it, but I feel she's got a LOT more talent than she displays. Did anyone else thing that Beyonce looked like a young Whitney Houston in this video?
