What white people have to understand is that it was common and acceptable (and still is) for Black parents to beat their kids. If you even back talked your parents , you would get whooped with tree branches, extension cords, belts, brooms, etc. I believe Michael thought he was too good to get beat. His ego was obviously so big that he decided to speak out against his father's disciplinary actions. FYI Joe has always been honest and admitted that he spanked/whooped his kids, but never "beat" them. You guys attack an 80 year old man and wish death upon him will get karma right back to you and your elderly parents and grandparents. In the present, he lives with some of his grandkids and they seem to love him and he loves them. So, I don't see a problem with Joe.
