The fact of the matter is, PETA is made up of crazy people. Sure, they're not a terrorist group, but they do not see the world realistically.
Nickelodeon probably treated that ape ten times better than half the actors on set, and if they didn't, we would have been told about it.
CGI is not a viable means of rendering a chimpanzee in live action movies--remember Scoobie Doo? It would look animated, fake, and silly.
Dammit PETA, be cost-effective, too! It'll cost less to rent an ape for a couple of days than to render a CGI ape, or use an animatronic version of one!
I would like PETA to give better alternatives during this tough economy and face the facts.
