if anyone has any question about whether america's ready for gay marriage, the comments on perez would quickly convince them otherwise. don't you get it? a lot (the majority of voters in cali for instance) are opposed to recognition of same sex marriage. maybe it's time to change our focus on educating the people that so clearly hate us.
I have to agree with Kitten Poo on this. By continuing a high profile pursuit of “marriage” as opposed to a low profile pursuit of rights everyone else enjoys (and that we weren’t getting through state-by-state gay marriage recognition anyway) we handed the anti- side an easy victory. What people need to know are the real life consequences of bans like this at the federal and state level – of families that are torn apart because spouses can’t get immigration rights, that children seeking adoption are denied potential parents, and that anti-gay violence is still not considered a hate crime at the federal level.
