dead on...they couldn't care less about the "rights"...they are only fighting over a WORD. Why is no one crying for the California Domestic Partnership model to be adopted on a Federal level? It would provide the EXACT same rights to all couples, gay and straight. Instead they take their battle to states like California where winning means the use of a word and nothing else.
As for Obama...he told you on day one that he was opposed to gay marriage. Which, by-the-way is in agreed upon by the vast majority of this country's citizens. It's one of the reasons he was elected. Did you think he was going to change his stance because gays campaigned and voted for him? He still has to win an election in 2012. Were you under the impression that he is any different from every other politician?
Say something about a 14-year-old daughter of a Republican and idiots like Perez forgive it overnight...radio personalities say something equally offensive about transgender children, and he calls for them to be fired.
The double standards on both sides of the political spectrum are embarrassing. It's unfortunate that people like Perez are the ones with a large enough reach to socially represent the people of this country.
Pete Wentz' quote is 100% incorrect...i love how all these people will take more time out of their day to go to a rally than they will to read a comparison between California Domestic Partnership laws and Marriage laws.
The only inequality that gays are suffering is the federal recognition of Domestic Partnership laws. Calling it "marriage" is never going to change that. If the battle stays in California, you are only battling over a word, not rights.
