As much as I respect the movement for No on Prop8, I can't respect a website that seriously cites Wikipedia. For all we know, they could've (not that they would) edit the information as they pleased. One must use more credible sources in debates- using wiki is a joke, thus this website lost my respect, until it finds more reliable sources.
"Where do we get of comparing who's suffering more?" Ironically you are comparing who's suffering more by saying it was wrong to put the fight for gay marriage on the same level as segregation that coloured peoples fought for- you have repeatedly said it was disrespectful and that their cause was greater than this one. So you're the one who is being a hypocrite.
He wasn't comparing- he was showing an image of a coloured person being treated as a second-class citizen, and Prop 8 will make gays second-class citizens.

Oh god. You think being gay is a choice? Why would ANYONE choose to live a life of misery with people like you who do not accept them, get bashed on the regular, have some fundamental rights denied to them, and feel threatened for their life lest anyone who is a homophobe decide to take action upon them? WHY WOULD YOU "CHOOSE" that? You fucking moron.
"Are you seriously going to compare centuries of slavery, segregation, and just the general deprivation of basic human rights to gays not being able to marry?"
It was once the law that a black couldn't marry a white woman. And now, they're trying to change it so that two people of the same sex cannot marry.
I think it's the same. The point the image is trying to make is that we're going backwards, to a time where this type of discrimination was open and accepted. They recently got the license to marry, and now they're trying to take a step backwards.
Denying the right for gays to marry is a segregation from those who are privileged to marry, and those who are lawfully not allowed to. The image was about Black Vs White. Prop 8 is Hetero vs. Homo. Two extremes, so I don't think that the post above was unfair.
