on Quote Of The Day at 12:12 08/09/2008I understand that some wives like taking care of their husbands but it's my belief that the husband and wife take care of each other. It's comments like this that set Latin Women back 500 years and I do not think that comments like these are appropriate for a magazine aimed at empowering Latin women as Longoria herself is the very embodiment of what Latin women should never be, subservient maids. It's easy for American women to be independent because they were fortunate enough to have the Women's Liberation movement in the 60's and 70's but for Latin women, things like that have been embedded into our culture and it's hard for me to fight against that tradition because I think it is a stupid tradition that serves no purpose in today's society. I am for people living their lives the way they want to, but I believe that comments like these are very reckless and destructive to a culture of young Lain American Women who trying to be independent and find a place in this sadistic world. Her comments perpetuate the stereotype of the Latin womon and it is very destructive thing to say and as if she is a good role model to Latin women. She in no way deserves to be interviewed by Latin or any Women's publication for that matter if she strongly holds that belief.
