The main character is Serena. The main character isn't necessarily the most popular character. The main character of a show has to be the normal person in the series, the supporting characters are the 'characters' of the show. Otherwise a show really won't work. Serena and Dan are the glue that holds the crazies together. But Chuck and Blair are my personal favorites.

Vanessa. She is the only character, that people would care about watching, that could have a seperate story line without taking away from the orgional show.
