I completely understand why he is saying actors might be better off staying in the closet. I am gay, and there is no way in hell I would be out of the closet if I was an actor. No possible way. Anyone who says that doing that won't reduce potential roles has no idea what they are talking about. You can get on your soapbox all you want about saying public figures should be out, but the fact of the matter is that many producers and directors will not cast openly gay actors in starring roles. That's just a fact of life.
