As a former teacher (going back to grad school), we had two transgendered children in the school I taught at. (8th graders) They were not harassed or treated differently by anyone.

I'll answer that... ft. worth is not near us. We haven't experienced hate crimes based on sexual preference here. As stated before, our sheriff is homosexual. I do know in El Paso, the police officer will be reprimanded and they will be giving classes on how to handle situations as such.
