thats sad to single out single moms like that dathinker. its hard enough raising them alone, u shouldnt categorize them all as low lives like they way you make it sound. i grew up in a loving unbroken home and me and all my siblings are in college and yes i was disciplined this way. no matter what you teach your kids, they rebel and misbehave! thats just being kids! i just think spanking when needed (and i mean no extremes like everyday occurrences) teaches the child fear not from their parent but the consequences of their actions and i think its better than some ten minute time out where the kid will think about the next time they can piss their parents off again. i doubt any kid has deep self-evaluations just sitting there

sorry. but i really dont think its wrong to spank your children. hitting is never acceptable but when a child is doing something really wrong they should be and understand why they are being punished. kids are growing up so fast, its bullshit that they have phones before 10, wear makeup too early or have myspaces before they are even teens. giving them too many choices and being lax with punishment is retarded. be a parent not a friend. its not ok to abuse! but seriously i dont know anyone who wasnt spanked as a child
