Alpha 1 Antityrpsin is an auto-immune disease, as is vitaligo (skin stops producing melatonin and loses color). My son has both (we are caucasian). People susceptible to one auto immune disease are often susceptible to others, therefore it makes sense that since he has vitalago (which there is no cure for only skin lotions which, yes, dye the skin lighter, my 10 year old uses it). I know it seems funny to say he got it from the abuse he did to innocent kids, but it can be very serious.

She is probably always photographed carrying her daughter because with all the photographers taking their picture Jen feels safest holding her. If you think she shouldn't hold her daughter, then stop looking at photos of her so she can feel safe walking and holding her daughter's hand! Otherwise, she loves Violet so let her carry as long as she can!
