So let's look at the example you used, where a kid kicks another one in the leg and the kid who got kicked retaliates... so Gaza fires rockets at Israel, even during a ceasefire. Israel DOESN'T retaliate. But after 8 years of "kicking" something has to be done. It's wonderful to be the bigger person and not retaliate, but it's different when a kid is kicked in the leg and when civilians are being fired rockets at. Don't you think it's a country's job to protect itself?and wouldn't all this be avoided if the kid didn't start kicking anyone in the first place?Israelis aren't looking for an "excuse" to fire back. If the palestinians would mind their own business and not harm Israel, would the Israelis have ONE reason to attack Gaza? NO! Israelis don't want war! You think Israelis don't die at war? speak to any israeli mother whose 18 year old son is drafted in the army and ask her if she really wants him to be putting his life in danger everyday. Or ask if what she wants is the end to the Palestinians. Well let me tell you, she would say she would like the wars to end and the deaths to end. NO israelis want to see anyone die, but they have no choice after YEARS and YEARS of attacks and suicide bombings. Also, take a look at israeli culture, listen to israeli music, you will understand that all they want is to leave peacefully. It's that simple.
It is unfortunate that you had to experience that, and no body should. However try to understand why they have such tight security. When it was a regular thing for people to blow themselves up in the middle of the street, on buses, in coffee shops, and daily, the country had to do something to stop it. I'm not saying that's the solution, but if terror attacks didn't take place, neither would these horrible check points. Neither country is perfect.
