He was probably chasing her with the knife after seeing it in a movie or television show. It wasn't because he wanted to hurt her or because he's "psyco". they can take everything at face value. If it's scary when he see's it, it could have been the equivalent of jumping out saying BOO. Sometimes it is impossible for the child to know that something is inappropriate, when a child with out the spectrum of the same age knows not to chase granny with a knife because they relate that she can get hurt, that reasoning doesn't always come naturally to non typical kids
