Wait a second. Marriage by law and by religion are two different things: to be recognized as a married couple by the church and by the state should be kept seperate. All couples, whether they are gay or straight, should be allowed the same civil rights under law. However, when it comes to the church and their choice to recognize a marriage or not, the government should not have any say at all since religion and government should be kept SEPARATE. The church (take your pick of which one) should make their own decisions on how to deal with the issue of gay marriage. The state, however, has an obligation to it's people to ensure equality, no matter the sexuality of the individuals involved.
Religion and government is NOT the same and stop getting them mixed up, please.
