BTW, to avoid any confusion,m y kids are very respectful and in no way feel they are on the same level as their parents, or ANY adult for that matter. Please don't confuse permissive parenting with the way we parent our children.

Thank you!! I'll take that as a compliment. Yes I am one of THOSE parents and very proud to say so. Just like my parents were. I paid my way through college ( masters in Chem E ) and a very confident, independent individual. I make my own decisions and I am grateful to my parents for the way they raised me. I am not bashing anyone for their parenting methods. Just saying that we choose to teach our kids to think for themselves and try to make good decisions based on past experiences.
