Look, the bottom line is that this is NOT where McCain's campaign should be going. McCain has associated with folk, and done things, FAR WORSE than anyone can even dream up about Obama. This hateful smearing--that McCain swore he'd NEVER engage in just a few months ago--is only going to backfire on them in the end. For every idiot yokel who cheers "TERRORIST!" or "KILL HIM!" at a rally, there are a dozen decent people who remember that it's 2008 shaking their heads with disgust. And Elisabeth IS ignorant - everything she ever says on "The View" is recycled talking points from what she's heard on Fox News or from the mouth of Palin at a rally--you can tell simply by comparing the two, you can hear how she adopts her language. If she genuinely cared about what was "right," she'd give a little now and then. Barbara Walters was right to call her out last week, because while the other ladies will at least try to be bipartisan, crazy Hasselback just gets nervous and shrill and points her stupid finger at the table and usually can't even look anyone else in the eye.
