OK. I have to leave this site because too many people on here scare me. Here's a question for all you anti-choice people: Why so few adoptions? The statistical reality is that you say you want all those fetuses born because they're wanted by families...just not yours because you, statistically, reproduce, but don't adopt. Sarah Palin? FIVE biological children, not a single adoption. McCain? Four biological children, ONE adopted. Honestly, children, you better start putting your money where your self-righteous mouths are because none of us are buying your unsubstantiated moralism.
Whether you would ever have an abortion or not, we NEVER, EVER want the government to have the power to decide when we will, or will not, have babies. Pregnancy should never be up to a bunch of politicians.
And for those of you who think the U.S. is the 'asshole' of the world for all the godless liberalism that exists here: we are the ONLY developed nation that makes an issue of a woman's fundamental RIGHT to determine when she will have a baby. Every other developed nation, including Italy--where the Pope lives, has strong abortion rights laws. The U.S. is the backwards nation, still mired in illogical, inappropriate, religiously-based arguments against an issue that is simply a woman's unique right.
The alternatives to having legalized, safe abortion are barbaric, archaic, and unworthy of a nation as advanced and powerful as ours.
"Against God's will"? Are you kidding? The bible is NOT the Constitution, dear heart. I live in the United States of America, not the United States of Christian Evangelicalism.
The Catholic church has no moral authority to condemn Obama for believing that the government shouldn't be involved in this issue. This priest sounds like an utter fool calling Obama 'radically pro-abortion.' Give me a break. If anyone would like to revisit what happens when nations outlaw abortion, may I suggest a quick study of Romania under Ceaucescu. It was not pretty. Abortion has always existed and will always exist. Education and a healthy, open attitude toward sexuality will help lessen the demand for them. Can we leave the dark ages now, please?
