on Tropic Thunder Controversy: Stiller Responds at 22:20 08/11/2008yeah, i should see the movie before i make any judgements about it, you're right. that's one good point i've heard made from someone with a different opinion. but i am not going to pay money and support something that i am this sure i will find incredibly offensive. everyone keeps replying and telling me i need to calm down, i believe i have the right to speak my mind on here without being told "shut my bitch ass up", i didn't tell any of you to shut up. this movie will have thousands of people quoting the popular saying 'never go full-retard' (there were shirts made with this on it for anyone who doesn't already know). imagine being an expecting mother who was just told the baby inside you has some chance of having down syndrome and hearing such hurtful things. i am less caught up in the image this movie is potraying, and more enraged by how insensitive a lot of these comments are. let me attempt leaving this argument alone with a fact that continues to blow my mind; at this point in time, there is a 90% termination rate for children with down syndrome in LA alone, i don't think this movie is going to help make that rate go down at all.

on Tropic Thunder Controversy: Stiller Responds at 21:46 08/11/2008 as a reply on the comment by poopstainokay, if i was the type of person who did nothing to help people with disabilities, had no idea what i was talking about, and had no connection to these people what-so-ever i would put my tail between my legs and run away crying. but i have a little sister with down syndrome, a mother who is a huge supporter of families who have children with down syndrome, volunteer at events like the buddy walk and watch my sister and her friends take part in things like the special olympics and ndss confrences around the world, i'd say that i have the right to give a shit that all of you are being completely ignorant.

on Tropic Thunder Controversy: Stiller Responds at 21:04 08/11/2008 as a reply on the comment by dlj1021thank you. i wish people could understand what it is like to have a loved one with a mental disability. this movie breaks my heart, but not as much as the people commenting on this throwing the word retard around like they are hysterical. it's the same thing as saying the 'n-word', which robert downey jr. came across in his script for the movie and thought twice about it. it really bothers me that there are so few rights for people with disabilities.

on Tropic Thunder Controversy: Stiller Responds at 20:24 08/11/2008it's bothering me that people are saying that advocacy groups are getting worked up for no reason. do your research on the movie and you will understand why they are getting worked up. it's not just a few people saying the word 'retard' 10 or so times. it's woven into the entire plot. at one point ben stiller's character calls his agent played by matthew mcconaughey and mentions wanting to adopt, mcconaughey's character then looks down at a picture of a kid who has down syndrome and says something along the lines of, well at least you have the choice i'm stuck with mine. this is not funny. this in no way is making fun of how actors, what was it, "try[ing] to do something to be taken seriously that's going too far or wrong". before i realized all of this was going on in the movie, i never even found it to be remotley funny. i suppose to each his own, see it or don't. but when you're sitting next to a person with a mental disability at this movie, are you going to turn to them and tell them to get a sense of humor?

on The Jonai On Perez at 12:49 08/11/2008it annoys me to hear people say the jonas brothers aren't talented or something along those lines. just because you don't enjoy that genre of music doesn't mean they can't sing extremely well. i'm glad you love them, perez. and i'm glad they love you too.
