well, john does have 7 kids, so he might have purchased cars for them while having them in his name, in addition to them owning several houses, so I'm guessing that they have cars to drive at their different residences. and i'm sure someone's going to comment on the fact that he has 7 houses. well, my grandparents have 5 houses and an apartment complex. they aren't rich, but they do well - they just happen to have invested their money in real estate...as many americans do.
but frankly, i don't mind that the man that i'm voting for is rich. i think it's a good thing when the person who oversees the largest budget in america has actually dealt with large amounts of money in his personal life.
that's nice that barack and michelle only have one car. they also literally donated PENNIES of their money to charity and saved nothing. doesn't sound like a person who is real great at managing and saving their assets.
perez - i actually agree with you here. and, as a matter of fact, rich american's DO pay a lot more in taxes already! you see, as your income goes up, you get taxed a different percentage. actually, there is a huge population of americans that pay no taxes at all - about 40% of americans. the top 5% of taxpayers carry over 50% of the tax burden.
while i don't necessarily have a huge problem with that (because let's face it, a family of 5 making $40K couldn't really afford to pay 35% in taxes, a family of 5 making $500K can), i do have a gigantic problem with obama wanting to give 95% of american's a tax cut. that's not a tax cut when 40% of americans pay no taxes. that's what we call wealth redistribution - ie the government takes money away from certain people and hands it over to others. and that's wrong. tax cuts are one thing, but obama's not talking about a tax cut!
drill, baby, drill! i don't understand why we want to transfer our wealth to the arabs. let's keep the wealth within the u.s. alaskans want a small patch of land opened for drilling. do it! we need energy independence, and this is a start. most of the people worried about anwr haven't ever been there and probably won't ever go in their entire lives. and, oh by the way, one of the major reasons we purchased alaska in the first place was because we knew it was a potential "pot of gold" as far as resources are concerned - so why are we still putting money into the hands of terrorists when we don't have to?!
oh, and perez, stem cell research is legal, and it takes place everyday by private companies. what is restricted is using tax payers dollars for stem cell research. and since some people have a serious moral objection to it, they shouldn't have to pay for it. i personally don't have a problem with stem cell research, but i do with abortion. and if obama becomes prez he'll want to use MY tax dollars to fund someone's abortion....i ain't gonna pay for it!
