Yeah, seriously. Why are you stirring the pot?? There is a reason there is a LEGAL blood alcohol limit, and one beer 75 minutes prior to the accident is hardly incriminating.
The fact that he wasn't home (or claims not to have been) makes the situation even worse. All that implies is that he knew what he was doing was wrong, so he attempted to position himself to make money off the fights, all the while never technically doing any of the "dirty work". No one here is saying that child molesters, murders, abusers of any sort, etc. should get different sentences than Vick. Killing a living thing is wrong. Period. @Erikalea--You're right, animal abuse is absolutely not limited to this case. Poor treatment of animals raised to be slaughtered is an issue in and of itself. I think that Vick being punished the way he was, especially when he was who he was is commendable on the part of our judicial system, that often suffers from a great amount of oversight. In the end, having such a lack of empathy for any creature deserves punishment.
Who said this had anything to do with being white or black?? The commonality of dog fighting in the South does not make what he did ok. The law doesn't state that it is illegal, aside from those residing in the South who have chosen to not evolve past senseless torture. He made a poor choice, and he paid for it dearly. The fact that he was famous and an extremely talented football player put a magnifying glass on his situation...which is part of the deal you make when you become famous. He gambled and lost. No race/police/socioeconomic issue here.
