Love her but her voice needs the studio tweaking and reworking. She sounded fine when she was sitting there singing Fifteen but she needs to work on some breathing exercises or something if she is going to perform songs running around the stage like the Forever and Always performance. Oh well... she's bigger than just her voice. People just love the whole package. She's a very likable person and fans adore her. I do wonder what other country singers in the audience think though.
I love Taylor Swift. Her albums are awesome. She seems like a great person and is a very talented songwriter -- That being said.. I think the Kanye incident really helped with this... I would imagine she got a lot of votes kind of as giving her another opportunity to win an award without an interruption. Kind of "the sympathy vote." I'm not questioning that she deserves to win awards, but it was crystal clear the minute the Kanye stuff went down that she was probably going to win everything she was nominated for the next while -- kind of like a big FU to Kanye
I enjoyed the monologue and found it quite funny but the skits (other than the one making fun of Twilight) were lame. I read in another article that she wrote the monologue herself -- that's probably true considering it was made of serious WIN and SNL hasn't done anything funny in years...
The reality is that most currently popular "singers" do not have the vocal chops to sound all that fabulous performing live so MANY of them lipsync.. There are even some performers with strong vocals that lipsync at their concerts because their concerts are more about dancing/extravaganzas and it's difficult to sing properly when you are huffing and puffing from dancing your butt off. I'm not saying I agree with lipsynching, personally - at the price of most tickets, I say go buy the artist's entire catalogue on cd - but if you like the whole performance aspect and just enjoy the vibe of being at a concert, then go and don't complain. It is more often than not that the singer is NOT singing live.
