i always find it funny when people who have no idea what they are talking about decide to spout nonsense of which they have no true knowledge about. unfortunately for you, you don't know how the television business works. nearly EVERY major sports production runs the risk of losing money, let alone the olympics. you mentioned that you thought NBC's coverage was great for this olympics, how exactly do you think that happened? NBC more than tripled the hours of coverage made available to viewers during the Summer Games, and it's not like they just found more equipment and had lots of volunteers. all that costs money, and lots of it. what you've clearly not taken into consideration is the fact that the bar has been set considerably higher, and by the time of the Winter Games two years from now, advertisers will be spending twice as much for commercial space because they understand the built-in audience that reached gargantuan proportions in August.
