Epilepsy = spontaneous seizures.. he would have been having a visible seizure if he were epileptic, which is compulsions and no control over your body.. it's dangerous, but it's obvious when it occurs.

Narcolepsy = spontaneous sleep states. Narcolepsy would have been much more believable, because there would be no visual shaking.
