Maybe they don't get treatment because people like you call them crazy and weak?
But I have to say, it's not surprising that there is a rise in personality or psychiatric disorders... the world is a faster and scarier place than it used to be. Between living through 9-11, an unstable economy, and a high pressure to be some CEO just to make ends meet... (I'm exaggerating) Fact is, we'd be a lot healthier if we slowed down, cooked more meals at home, turned off the TV, and had more positive social outlets for young adults and what not.
Personality disorders are either learned behaviors or behaviors that have developed as a coping mechanism to the everyday stress in our lives.
Personality disorders (for those of you talking about pills...) usually are not treated with medication but therapy. Anxiety is not a personality disorder. So that isn't counting the individuals taking meds to help with anxiety as it is not a personality disorder. They're not on the same axis as mental illness in which individuals have chemical imbalances.
Usually, people are afraid to seek treatment for such things because they don't want to be associated with the stigma that they are crazy or weak, as you have so wonderfully provided a sample for, perez.
I watch discovery channel practically all day. Dirty Jobs, Myth Busters, Planet Earth, Survivorman, A Haunting, Deadliest catch, Shark week and tons of other specials... Going tribal and Taboo..
You know for someone who's supposed to be all green and environmentally friendly, you would think you would actually enjoy the discovery channel. I'm surprised you don't watch it.
If that's the case, then he would back the majority who voted for prop h8te to pass...
Either way, this is going to one day find itself in the supreme court... Society changes over time, attitudes change over time... it will be a reality soon, and the people against gay marriage will have to suck it up and get over it.
But I will be voting No on H8te... the campaign for yes on 8 called me the other night at an indecent hour... who the hell calls at 9pm on a Sunday night? Seriously, people have class or work in the morning...
I gave him an earful (politely) of why I am voting No on 8... said something about domestic partnership bullshit... Separation is not equality anyone?
Also, I'm voting Yes on the prop about space for animals on farms... I don't see how providing more space for farm animals would cause farmers to lose profit, if anything it should improve the quality of the product thus increasing profits.
Somehow the people campaigning to say yes for Prop 8 got my cellphone number and called me this morning. Luckily I didn't pick up... they left a voice mail. I promptly deleted it. I am voting no on Prop 8. Equality for all! I think it's twisted for them to claim that all these horrible things are going to happen. Getting married is about love and commitment, not about gender or sexual persuasions. And people who say that it's because they are using the word marriage which is religious in nature... then saying yes on 8 is also saying yes we should also refuse people who are not married in a church or under a religion.

Go educate yourself.

Not for Obama though.... I'm voting McCain/Palin.

To the polls I go when they open.
