on It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's A Woman In A Burka?! at 02:09 08/22/2009Islam, christianity as well as many other religion doesn't really promote hatred. Word of god as it may be, it is written down by humans, and human by nature tends to twist thing to fit their need or ideology. For those who claim islam spews hatred, find time to read the Quran (or Bible etc for that matter), you will find contradictions. And those are the proves how much of God's words were twisted in modern world. God would not tell people to hate each other, stone jews, hate homosexuals, kill people or bomb buildings, forbid eating certain food and so forth. Gods message is simple and pure, to LOVE.

on It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's A Woman In A Burka?! at 02:09 08/22/2009But with regards to the toon, it is not gonna do any good in promoting unity and tolerance. Why? Simple fundementals, much like some other religion, it promotes the notion there is only one god and no other. And how are you going to explain to the child if they ask for explanation. Not without teaching that people are different. It is not going to be easy for the non muslims to explain why this religion is denouncing every other religion. Definately not gonna help them blend with muslim children after that. Toons are suppose to be promoting unity, and the current ones are doing fine without religious overtone. Why the need to have a separate one? There will also be a lot of compromise to fit the storyline into tv guidelines as well as islamc teaching, end product may not stand the test of time.

on It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's A Woman In A Burka?! at 02:08 08/22/2009I read the whole thread and decided to add comments of my own. First of all, there is much hatred on both sides, you need to get over that and be open minded to have intelligent discussion. Several facts are laid out which i agree to, not all muslims are terrorist, and there are a fraction of people (of all religion) who may harbor mistrust no matter how nice they appear to be to others. Some of the examples are senseless, like comparing priest who molested children to terrorists, it is as if they are implying there is no muslim clergy who molested children, which is not true. Terrorism is on a whole other scale. While it may seem archaic to others, some women choose to cover themselves, it is their right. No one should deny them that anymore than denying nuns or monks their robes. But personally i do not trust people whose face I cannot see.
