Prop 4 didn't pass because those of us who voted against it had in mind those young ladies who CANNOT tell their parents they're getting an abortion because, maybe they're being abused by these same parents. Maybe they're being sexually assualted by a family member. As a parent, if you want your children to have an open, honest dialouge with YOU then YOU need to take care of that in your own home. But, getting the law involved and messing things up for girls who have no choice or parents to discuss these things with isn't okay.
What's amazing to me is how many people on here say to just give up. What would have happened if African Americans had given up during the 60's? You have to fight for what you believe in no matter what it is. No matter what the opposition. There will always be people there to shoot down things they're uncomfortable with or things they don't understand and don't care to understand. I also think it's interesting that Perez is being admonished for talking about something that is so important to him. It's a serious issue for him and millions of Americans and he gets to talk about it on HIS blog. Lastly, I'm not exactly sure how McCain's loss on Tuesday is the same as people being discriminated against. If someone could (intelligently) explain how the two are related, I would appreciate it.

I get the idea. It's an extreme comparison but, ya know, it's supposed to be. It sort of makes me think of how back then there are people who viewed this type of segregation to be acceptable and normal but, now wouldn't think of it. Maybe now we're seeing the same type of thing with gay marriage where people don't approve of it but, perhaps years from now they'll look back and realize how ridiculous that was.... if that makes any sense?
I think that is what this is trying to get at. Inequality under the law. Not to the same degree but, well, you know.
