Um, no, he hasn't gotten horrible reviews. The play has gotten some bad reviews, but most everyone agrees that Jude is an excellent Hamlet and carries it. Audience response is overhelmingly favorable. I saw it in October, and it was an awesome play. Got to talk to some of the cast when they were out on smoke break...very friendly and funny. Got Jude's autograph, and he was very gracious and thanked people for coming. The play has ranked in the top 10 for weeks, which is unheard of for non-musicals, and has already earned back 5 million above its cost...also almost unheard of for nonmusicals. And it still has 2.5 weeks left.
He was on his balcony...so how's he going to close the curtains on his balcony? They were hollering at him. They've been tweeting about peeping on him for weeks, even when his kids were there. I wonder how creeped out they would be if it was him peeping on them? He'd catch heat for it. Duh! Maybe they needed a life lesson in how to be a good neighbor instead of being a nuisance? I mean, I'm not saying I'm a fan of fruit throwing by any means, it's a waste of perfectly good food, but if it went on for weeks, perhaps the breaking point came. Girlls need to know when to quit. And I kinda think it's not the whole story, anyway. Especially if it's from NY Post.
Hamlet was amazing! I wish I could get back up there to see it but doesn't look like I'm going to make it before December 6. Definitely more than just young girls seeing it. I got to see Matt Damon the night I was there, too.
