I feel bad for her. I lost my dog a year ago and I was completely traumatized by the experience. Nevertheless, she needs to accept it and move on. I think that Martha's comments are unfair. You can do everything right and stuff just happens.
Hmmm- this one is a double edged sword. I think that Beth Ditto is intelligent and fierce. However, while I agree and admire her ability to challenge our conceptions about size and self esteem, she is really overweight. This is a very unhealthy condition. The reality is is that being overweight is really harmful to your health. It is kind of like people promoting the idea that we need to love ourselves for other self harm actions like smoking, or excessive drinking. She is not really looking at her physical health from a realistic viewpoint. Nevertheless, it is really good to see someone who is articulate and opinionated.
Yes, you are right. However, I always kind of regarded her as an equal to Reed in the way that they were well matched. And, not just smart, but complex and older with some interpersonal wisdom that Reed lacked (in that way, I felt that they were equalized). Nevertheless, what you are saying is true.
